New Year’s Golf Game Resolution Solution:

Skill specific clinics at The Golf Academy at University Park County Club

UNIVERSITY PARK — If one of your New Year’s resolutions includes improving your golf game, breaking the elusive 100 score or getting closer to wining that club championship, University Park Country Club’s Golf Academy skill specific clinics in January and February will help get you golf ready for 2017.

Coaches include former European and LPGA tour players

Open to members and non-members, participants benefit from having two former European and LPGA tour players share their skill, knowledge and acumen. These include Assistant Golf Pro Clinton Whitelaw, a former South African Open Champion and European Tour Winner, who has also coached many of the world’s elite professional and amateur golfers, including Anders Hansen, Trevor Dodds, Carl Yuan and Aden Ze, to name a few. Joining Whitelaw is Sue Ertl, Head Teaching Professional at University Park Country Club and former LPGA tour player, who holds a career low score of 64, including 10 holes-in-one. Ertl currently plays on the LPGA Legends tour and has been inducted into the Women’s Collegiate Golf Hall of Fame as well as Michigan State University Hall of Fame.

Get Golf Ready 2.0

January 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7 (5 consecutive Tuesdays)

Time: 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Cost: $125/per person (5-week program)

Designed for the intermediate golfer and/or person who already completed the first University Park Country Club Get Golf Ready 1.0 class. All aspects of golf will be covered in a fun, group atmosphere, including short game, bunker, full swing, as well as rules and golf etiquette. Limited space.

2-Day Short Game School

January 12-13

February 27-28 (ladies only)

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (2 consecutive mornings)

Cost: $225/per person ($100 deposit required)

Get the tools and techniques needed to consistently take strokes off your game. Skill technique work includes full swing shots (irons, hybrids, wood and driver) and short game scoring shots. Includes individual video instruction and analysis plus one complimentary lunch voucher to Park Grille & Café.

3-Day Total Golf School

January 24-26

February 6-8 (ladies only)

Time: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (3 consecutive mornings)

Cost: $349/per person, per clinic ($100 deposit required)

Experienced professionals guide participants through the fundamentals of full swing shots (irons, hybrids, wood and driver) and short game scoring shots. Students also receive individual video instruction and analysis plus one lunch voucher to Park Grille & Café.

Half-Day Golf School

January 16

February 20

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Cost: $249/person ($100 deposit required)

Major of aspects of the golf game will be covered in a pre-lunch golf school session, followed by lunch at The Park Grille & Café, then 9 holes of golf on the award-winning course.

Breaking 100 Clinics

January 23, 27, 30

February 3, 6, 10

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Cost: $125/person (6-class series; Mondays & Fridays)

Designed to teach all skills required to finally break the elusive 100 score. Driving, irons, pitching, bunker play, trouble shots, putting and more.

90-Minute Mini Golf School

January 16

February 20

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Cost: $100/person

Learn new techniques for improving your full swing, putting and chipping.

Sunday Mimosa Clinic & Buffet

January 8, 15, 22, 29

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (clinic, followed by breakfast)

Cost: $49/per person, including clinic and breakfast buffet

Enjoy 60 minutes of instruction including driving, irons, short games, putting and more. After the clinic enjoy University Park Country Club’s award-winning Sunday Mimosa Breakfast Buffet at The Park Grille & Café.

Saturday Morning Drop-In Clinics

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $25/person, per clinic

Practice both full swing and short game techniques.

Men’s & Ladies’ Afternoon Golf Clinics

Time: 1:30-2:30 p.m. (same time each day)

Cost: $25/person per clinic

Stroke and skill training varies each week.
