It has been 18 years since the Sarasota area has hosted a major professional golf tour event.
The now Champions Tour played at Prestancia in 2000.
Once again pro golf fans will have the pleasure of watching talented pros when the Tour visits Lakewood National Feb. 11-17 for the first time.
Those unfamiliar with the Tour should know that it is one step below the PGA Tour. In baseball, it is called the Class AAA league. It is the last stop before the big leagues.
Then only difference is the Tour also is the only qualifying venue for the PGA Tour.
That means the pros are very good. Many have graduated from PGA Tour such as Justin Thomas,
There have been 23 major champions and eight Player’s champions that have played the circuit.
Look for continued updates on the tournament on this site.
