SARASOTA — J. B. Holmes of the The Concession will be having a busy two weeks.
On Thursday, he is paired with Jason Duffner in the FedEx Cup Championship at East Lake Golf Club near Atlanta.
The following week, the transplanted Kentuckian will be representing the U.S. and The Concession on the 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Holmes was chosen by captain Davis Love III to represent the United States Ryder Cup team at Hazeltine National Golf Club from Sept. 30 – Oct.r 2. He’s previously played on the U.S. team in 2008 – the last time the Americans won against the European squad.
“J.B. epitomizes the exceptional characteristics of a Ryder Cup player,” said Mark Bruce, Director of Sales at The Concession Residences. “We are honored that since 2014, J.B. and Mrs. Holmes have resided at The Concession. Establishing a home in our community easily allows for J.B. to utilize The Concession Golf Club as the premier course to perfect his game.”
The Concession Residences has strong ties to the Ryder Cup. The luxury gated community and championship golf course was named after the 1969 Ryder Cup – where Jack Nicklaus conceded the final putt to fellow competitor Tony Jacklin. The moment – referred to as “The Concession” – is considered one of the greatest acts of sportsmanship in history and resulted in the first Ryder Cup tie.
The Concession Golf Club, a nationally-ranked, 7,474-yard tournament caliber course, was designed by Ryder Cup Champions Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin.
Also, Bradenton’s Paul Azinger, the captain of the 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup team, is an honorary member at The Concession.
